POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager/Personal Service Coordinator II Provides or ensures the provision of services needed and wanted by members served in the most appropriate environment of members' choice on a regular and emergency basis.

As part of the Telecare Family, the LA Step Down provides intensive mental health services to 126 adults, ages 18+ who have an Axis I diagnosis, and clients who are mentally incompetent to stand trial (MIST).

Employment Status: Full-Time

Shift: 8:00am – 4:30pm

Days: Monday - Friday

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision serves as the primary support and case manager for individuals with mental illness by assisting them to live as independently as possible in their chosen community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Two (2) years of direct service experience working with the mentally ill, preferably in an unlocked community setting.

• A Bachelors or Master’s degree in a related field is required, as well as one year experience providing substance abuse services in the community.

• CADAC certification is required.

• Additional coursework and/or certification in Drug and Alcohol counseling are preferred.

• Sensitivity to multi-cultural populations and issues is required.

Preferred:

• Experience in providing intensive case management, intensive community supports using psychiatric rehabilitation concepts is highly desirable.

• Experience in a mental health setting, outpatient clinic, dual diagnosis treatment or community mental health service preferred.

• Being on-call is a requirement.

• This position provides direct mental health services to our members which requires documentation, & intensive services.

• Must transport clients in your own vehicle. Driving daily is required.
