Description

 Assists clients, volunteers and Program Coordinator in program and programmatic duties and operations.  Is responsible for confidentiality of records and individuals in program, as well as the health and safety of the individuals and the environment. Must be knowledgeable related to substance use disorders and the recovery process. Must have demonstrated competency in areas required for counselor certification (Tap 21). Must be able to provide support, training, and guidance to registered recovery specialists and interns who are on the path to counselor certification and evaluate their work as needed.

Examples of Work Performed:

Answer the telephone and greet visitors and potential clients. Must be able to provide general information regarding program eligibility requirements as well as information related to referral and admissions procedures.

Work with clients to complete the required paperwork, including the intake, multi-dimensional assessment, progress notes, recovery and exit planning and discharge procedure, following DHCS regulations.

Performs any additional administrative duties as assigned to include collection of program statistics and supervision of recovery specialist I, interns, and volunteers.

Must be able to document client services to comply with DHCS billing requirements within the electronic medical record. Must be able to effectively utilize computer equipment and be able to efficiently navigate web sites to accurately enter data.

Understand and maintain confidentiality at all levels in compliance with CFR 42, part 2 and HIPPA CFR 45. Must protect all private health information access and storage as required by state and federal confidentiality regulations.

Provide information and referral services for clients and the public. Must support the program’s mission and values in all program activities and communications.

Facilitate recovery and educational groups for clients utilizing evidence-based interventions such as but not limited to motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma informed counseling approaches.

Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by the program coordinator and director.

Oversees cooking, household maintenance and scheduling, and client appointments.

Takes a responsible role during emergencies and crises, assuring the safety and wellbeing of clients and others first, then the facility.

In the absence of the Program Coordinator, takes responsibility for program functions and provides leadership to staff, interns, and volunteers.  Takes a leading role in enforcing rules and guidelines of the program; assists recovery specialists 1 and interns in resolving problems and conflicts.

Actively networks with community resources and assist clients in accessing community support services as needed and/or requested. Transports residents to appointments and meetings as needed.

Any other duties required to meet established standards of licensing and certification, health, and safety.  Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, supportive, drug free environment conducive to the clients’ recovery activities.

Must actively support the prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse in all aspects of program activities.

Comply with all Central Valley Recovery Services, Inc. policies and procedures.

Must maintain congenial relationships with all co-workers and community resources to facilitate a beneficial continuity of care for all clients.

Skills and Qualifications:

 Experience and Training: 2 years professional program experience.

 Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of Counselor Certification education; Additional college level work preferred. Current DHCS SUDS approved counselor Certification required, keeping current with all renewal requirements.

Personal Qualities:  Ability to work with individuals in early recovery; knowledge of the various models of recovery and treatment of SUD; and familiarity with the elements essential to the recovery process.  Ability to understand and maintain professional boundaries, utilize sound judgment, model reliability, and remain free from impairment while working. In depth understanding and experience with the critical issues and challenges faced by individuals and families in the addictions and recovery process.

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, maintain active required liability insurance, and ability to satisfy lawful CVRS and insurer’s driving requirements.

Physical Requirements:

             With or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to move throughout the facility and surrounding areas; operate standard office equipment; communicate and receive information effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically; detect and respond promptly to emergencies;

Utilize vision, hearing and speech.
Utilize manual and finger dexterity.
Walk on a smooth and/or uneven surface.
Stand upright and/or forward flexing, sit for at least one hour without difficulty.
Twist, turn, bend and reach.
Occasionally lift and/or carry 35 pounds minimum.
Read and understand correspondences, printed reports, logs, instruction manuals, diagrams, warning labels, and other related documents requiring the ability to speak English.

 Salary Range:  10 steps $23.33 to $29.11

 Hours:  Full time - 40 per week; part time up to 29 hours per week.
