Duties

Conduct thorough client assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria to determine substance use severity and co-occurring mental health conditions
Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy
Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and relapse prevention
Implement crisis intervention techniques to manage acute situations effectively while maintaining client safety and confidentiality
Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to medical documentation standards, HIPAA regulations, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management protocols
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care plans
Conduct client intake procedures, including behavioral health screenings, client communication, and assessment of social determinants impacting recovery
Provide case management services such as resource linkage, community care coordination, and follow-up support for clients with complex needs

Experience

Prior experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in clinical or community settings
Proficiency in psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and evidence-based practices for addiction medicine
Strong knowledge of diagnostic evaluation tools such as DSM-5 criteria for mental health and substance use disorders
Experience working with diverse populations across cultural backgrounds while maintaining cultural competence in treatment delivery
Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, CPT coding, and medical records management within electronic health record (EHR) systems
Ability to perform crisis management effectively in high-pressure situations involving mental health or behavioral crises
Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, behavior management, data collection for research purposes, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
